5 green kitchen gadgets you can’t live without
# 1
These lids are the best! I like to put my smoothies and iced coffee in a mason jar but without a lid, it would be all over my car in seconds. And the metal lids that mason jars come with are too difficult to deal with if I’m driving. That’s why this pop-top is so handy. You have to screw them on really tight, but once you do, they are 100% leak proof. They are a little pricey so I almost didn’t get them at first but they are TOTALLY worth it. I also use them for homemade salad dressings and sauces and it makes them much easier to pour. They are dishwasher and microwave safe. I have been using mine for years and they still look like the day I bought them.
WeeSprout Double Zipper Reusable Food Pouch – 6 Pack – 5 fl oz
These are perfect for storing homemade baby food. Some other brands are square at the top edge and food gets stuck in the corners but WeeSprout pouches are rounded so they are much easier to clean. They are dishwasher safe, BPA, PVC, and phthalate free. The 5 oz size is perfect for my family but they also sell 3.4 oz and 7 oz sizes.
And these aren’t just for baby food. I like to rehydrate chia seeds in a mixture of juice and water and fill these up. They make a great snack on the go.
Basting and BBQ Oil Brush Dispenser Set
This brush is so easy to use. It puts exactly the right amount of oil on the brush so that it doesn’t drip. It is an easy way to oil caste iron, or any type of pan without using the aerosol stuff which is bad for the environment and your body. There are similar silicone brushes out there that can store liquids in a squeezable handle but those tend to leak all over the counter when you put them down or the hole to dispense the oil is so small that the silicone brush lid pops off because you have to squeeze it so hard. This brush set resolves both of those issues.
Reuseable Produce Bags – 5 Pack
These produce bags will replace all the plastic ones you come home with from the grocery store. The large will hold about 4 peppers or a head of romaine lettuce and the small holds 2-3 pieces of fruit. They wash easily in the washing machine or by hand and can be used for years without needing to be replaced. Large reusable shopping bags are everywhere but these smaller bags for produce are just as important to reduce the amount of plastic bags we consume.

ECOlunchbox Three-in-One Stainless Steel Food Container Set
This lunch box is a great alternative to ziploc bags and pre-packaged food. It is dishwasher safe and the perfect size for ages 3-8. I love that it is 100% stainless steel and easy for small children to open and close. There is a small removable container that fits into the top section which is great for keeping wet fruit away from dry crunchy snacks. It’s not totally leakproof so yogurt does not work, but if you put a piece of paper towel under juicy fruits like kiwi or mango, it will absorb excess liquid and it won’t spread to other compartments. These reusable lunch boxes can also save money because you can buy the larger bags of crackers or chips instead of buying individual packages which are more expensive.
BONUS THING I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT – not exactly a gadget
These aren’t exactly a gadget but they are so essential to my daily life that I had to include them on the list. Instead of grabbing a napkin every time I need to wipe my hands or my kids hands, I use a wet washcloth. It not only eliminates my paper usage but your hands get much cleaner when they are wiped with a wet washcloth. My kids have gotten so used to having clean hands and a clean face because I have used these since they were born, that they can’t stand being sticky and as a result, they actually LIKE to wipe their hands and face and I don’t have sticky handprints all over my house! EVER! They will change your life.
